Jim has over twenty-five years of diversified business management, finance and accounting experience as a CFO and Controller. Jim has served companies ranging in size from small family owned to operating divisions of "Fortune 100" companies. His experience encompasses a wide range of industries, various levels of product technology and in both domestic and international markets. Jim has provided profitability and cash flow improvement consulting for the prominent private equity firm of the former U.S. Secretary of The Treasury, William E. Simon. He has a very strong people and team centered approach to business management. Jim has been a major contributor in both improving and transforming businesses in terms of revenue growth, profitability, cash flow and shareholder value.

Beyond the more traditional CFO processes, Jim has developed skills to improve a company's operating performance and to successfully execute the company's strategy and business plan. These include business process improvement and operating cause and effect relationship strategies and measurements. Jim has also gained a solid knowledge of the critical components of an organization that are required to effectively execute the company's strategy and business plan.

Jim has had extensive experience in improving and transforming businesses of various sizes and complexity. Jim, as CFO, was a key contributor in a turnaround of an instrument manufacturing division of Emerson Electric, a "Fortune 100" company. Emerson has been highlighted in the "Harvard Business Review" for its highly effective management process and long term earnings performance. The company was "stuck" in a low sales growth and break-even profitability position. Strategies and actions taken to transform this business included adding new served markets, expanding distribution channels, developing new products, improving business processes, negotiating lower product costs with suppliers, adopting "World Class Manufacturing" methods and eliminating low margin products. As a result of these actions the company achieved both a double digit revenue growth and pretax profit rate. Its increased profit was near the top of U.S. peer group companies. The company's improved return on capital of 19% doubled the "Standard & Poor's 500" average.

In another turnaround, Jim was recruited as CFO for an electricity retailer serving the deregulated electricity markets. His tenure commenced just months before the worst electrical energy crisis in U.S. history struck California. The company was suffering high operating losses, quickly running out of cash and on the brink of bankruptcy. Jim obtained a "mission impossible" credit facility, helped restructure the company and implemented a business plan to stabilize liquidity, turn around and enhance profitability on a sustainable basis. The company achieved recurring years of profitability and positive free cash flow as a result of these actions. This major accomplishment was called a "remarkable turnaround" by an investment banking firm.

Jim graduated from the University of Southern California with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Accounting and Finance.He is a Certified Management Accountant and is a member of the Institute of Management Accountants. Jim is trained and licensed by the Professional Management Institute to implement a proprietary enterprise management system to help improve operating and financial performance. Jim is married to Linda with two grown daughters.
