Sam's thirty years of experience has come through several companies and areas of responsibility. Over the past fifteen years as the Chief Financial Officer of two companies, he has experienced both growth and decline in the economy. His insight and understanding of the profit / cost relationship has been critical to the success of these companies. Accurately forecasting revenues and managing cash is the key in the ability to maintain profitability even in difficult economies. Sam has used his experience in different enterprises taking the best practices from each and applying them to structure financial reporting and operating metrics to provide critical information rapidly and accurately.
Experienced as both a manager of the sales function and as a sales professional, Sam understands the need for a strong integration of sales, operations, and financial management. Capacity planning, capital investment analysis, and staffing decisions impact the profitability and cash flow of all companies. The ability to quickly assess the structure of the companies where he has worked and offer recommendations with bottom-line consequences has enabled Sam to make immediate impact to profitability and cash flow for these companies.
Sam has worked in many different industries including consulting services, software development and sales, real estate development and construction, and manufacturing in both process and job cost environments gaining experience that is applicable across a variety of businesses. Sam has taught accounting, finance, and economics at two local colleges drawing on his experience in business to complement his education while gaining additional insights from his students. He continues to strive to obtain new knowledge and experiences that provide him the tools that bring value to his clients.
Sam's involvement in mergers and acquisitions encompasses all areas from finding the companies and negotiating the deal to post-transaction integration. He has been successful in negotiating favorable terms with banks because he understands their concerns. His broad business experience has also translated to favorable risk management terms for his companies.
Sam is a Certified Public Accountant (Registered, Michigan 1984), a Certified Merger & Acquisition Advisor (2008), a graduate of WalshCollege with a Master of Science in Finance, concentrated in Financial Economics, and has a Bachelors of Science in Administration, concentrated in Accounting from the University of Michigan. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), the Michigan Association of Certified Public Accountants (MACPA), and the Alliance of Merger & Acquisition Advisors (AM & AA).
