Alan is a CPA with approximately 30 years of business experience, both domestically and internationally, with expertise in developing and implementing improvements in financial reporting and control processes.

Over the last 10 years, Alan was the CFO of mid-sized construction and real estate property management companies where he managed and led them through record earnings and growth. His company was a significant contractor in the construction of the new Yankee Stadium and Goldman Sachs office tower. He was previously a senior manager in KPMG's accounting practice where he developed expertise in client service. He was later the Head of Audit-Asia Pacific, based in Hong Kong, for two international banking organizations where he was responsible for evaluating and recommending control enhancements. These experiences make him uniquely qualified to quickly understand complex business problems and deliver practical, creative solutions.

Alan has developed and implemented financial reporting processes and models that have enabled companies to improve management oversight, adjust their strategies, and improve profitability, including improved cost management and cost reduction. In addition, Alan has developed cash flow and earnings forecasting models that enable companies to better manage daily cash flows, achieve earnings targets, and comply with bank debt covenant requirements.

Alan has also:

  • Negotiated bonding and bank financing, including lines of credit, term loans, and mortgages.
  • Developed business plans and analytics to monitor performance against plans.
  • Performed due diligence on merger and acquisition transactions.
  • Led outsourcing projects that resulted in substantial cost reductions.
  • Negotiated more favorable payment terms with vendors.
  • Led forensic examinations of financial performance as compared to expectations, including the determination of fraud or misappropriation of company assets.
  • Written operating and control procedures for all significant company activities, including cash, receivables, payables, purchasing, and payroll.
  • Successfully managed internal revenue examinations, insurance audits and external financial audits.
  • Led the accounting teams handling the registration statement for the initial public offerings for a savings bank and Goldman Sachs.
  • Conducted staff training, and instructed executive education courses, including accounting for non-accountants.

Alan is a high-energy, enthusiastic leader with a detailed, hands-on style. He can see the "big picture" and is comfortable making decisions that lead organizations to the company's mission. He is excellent at managing teams and developing people to achieve their goals and exceed client expectations.

Alan has a B.A. from Michigan State University. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, New York State Society of Certified Public Accountants, the Construction Financial Managers Association, and the Financial Executives Networking Group. He is also a master practitioner of neuro-linguistic programming, the art of developing peak performance. He lives in New Jersey with his wife of 28 years and he has two grown children.
