Dave is a seasoned financial manager with over thirty years experience in public and private companies across a variety of industries including for profit and non-profit entities. He has served as a Controller, Credit Manager, Vice President, Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer with a track record of success providing effective management, staff development, technology integration and improved overall performance in single and multiple company environments. He is committed to professional education and collaborative management as essential to continuous improvement.

After beginning his career with a multinational bank group, Dave worked for five years in public accounting with McGladrey & Pullen and Ernst & Young performing audits, management advisory and tax services for variety of clients in financial and manufacturing organizations. In the private sector, he spent the bulk of his career in small businesses. He built the financial function from the ground up in a family-owned, multiple-company group while revenues increased from $4.9 million to $55 million.

Dave performed due diligence for acquisitions, including pricing analysis, and participated in negotiations on terms of sale. He executed the spin-off of a business segment to focus operations, improve profitability and re-capitalize an illiquid organization. In addition, he served as President during the successful reorganization of a closely held company.

While in the public sector, Dave assisted with the acquisition of two competitors to provide a previously capitalized research company with a revenue base and an operational foundation to build on. Dave promotes the use of technology to eliminate waste and free staff for critical functions. He created product line reporting and analysis to highlight core competencies and identify waste. He established an audit based system of accounting documentation that provided an accurate, timely and predictable information flow laying the groundwork for successful and efficient independent audits. He delivered training programs to management groups covering finance for non-financial managers, activity based costing and budgeting.

Dave earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Augsburg College and holds a Master of Business Administration degree from the University of Minnesota. He lives on a farm outside Chetek, WI with his wife, Kristin, and their four children. He enjoys running, fishing and hunting. He serves as President of his local school board and helped guide the district through a successful consolidation with a neighboring district in 2010. He also has acted as an Adjunct Faculty member at Lakeland College in their undergraduate and MBA programs.
