Johnny Gates has been building progressive, sustainable infrastructures, teams and processes for diversified manufacturing, distribution and service companies across the Southeastern US for more than 20 years. While serving as an Executive Vice President, COO, Vice President of Finance and Controller, he has been invaluable to enabling long-term business growth, immediate bottom-line performance improvements and maximum return on investments and assets to create sustainable value for companies undergoing rapid growth, turnaround and global expansion.

As a strategic advisor to executives and management, Johnny provides insights and direction on acquisition strategies and due diligence, business process reengineering and financial restructuring. As a business partner, he transcends both finance and operations to instill discipline into accounting, analysis and reporting, and provides operations with accurate information to improve revenue/profit performance.

Johnny began his career as an Internal Auditor in the insurance and manufacturing sectors, ultimately becoming controller of a $500 million, multi-plant manufacturing division of a multi-billion dollar holding company. After improving profitability and performance of existing and acquired operations in a large corporate enterprise, Johnny migrated to smaller business ventures, serving as Controller and Vice President of Finance for a variety of manufacturing and distribution companies ranging in size from $25 million to $100 million. In each organization, he drove improved credit, cash and capital management, increased cost effectiveness by optimizing people, processes and technology, and enhanced the availability and relevancy of financial information used in strategic planning, budgeting and decision-making. His depth of experience includes hands on accounting, budgeting, banking, risk management, cash management, human resources and operations management which are additional benefits he can offer to streamline an operation.

For the last 10 years, Johnny has served as a member of the executive team of a dynamic manufacturing company that has undergone significant industry, market and operational changes. Through prudent financial and operational leadership, he has supported profitable growth from $50 million to $120 million, including opening new operating subsidiaries, engaging in international expansion, and structuring lucrative acquisitions and corporate transactions. Additionally Johnny put in place a strong financial structure, systems and processes that supported the business during economic and industry down turns. He finished out his tenure, assisting with the spin-off of an operating subsidiary and sale of the remaining business to a multi-billion dollar company.

Johnny majored in Accounting and graduated with a Bachelors Degree in Business Administration from East Carolina University. He is a member of SEN (Senior Executives Network) which comprises numerous mid-market companies from across the country. While pursuing new career opportunities, Johnny has lived and worked across North Carolina, Georgia, Tennessee, Virginia and South Carolina. He resides in Chester, South Carolina with his wife Evelyn and enjoys his two children, four grandchildren and golf.
