Rich is a business professional with over 35 years experience in finance and executive management, and has been employed as a CPA, Vice President of Finance and Administration and CFO. In addition to leading the accounting, MIS and HR functions in his various financial roles, he served as President with full P&L responsibility for two manufacturers.

Rich began his career working eight years in auditing with Peat, Marwick, Mitchell & Co (currently KPMG). Public accounting strengthened Rich’s grasp of accounting principles, financial reporting and analysis. He left the firm to become Vice President of Finance of Wells Electronics, Inc., a closely-held electro-mechanical component supplier to the semiconductor industry.

At Wells, Rich assisted in the formation of two overseas joint ventures, established three overseas sales offices and lead the acquisition of a connector manufacturer. He established the company’s 401-K, bonus and incentive stock option plans and introduced strategic planning. He was instrumental in the sale of the business to a British holding company that provided a lucrative exit for the company’s majority shareholder and founder. Rich gained valuable experience in mergers and acquisitions and in managing a fast-growing technology-based company.

After 10 years as Vice President, Rich was promoted to President of Wells where he developed skills in strategy planning, continuous improvement, lean manufacturing and new product development. Under his leadership, the company experienced significant top-line and bottom-line growth. After seven years as President, the company was sold at a high earnings multiple to a NASDAQ company. Rich remained as President for two and one half years and was a key participant in a public stock offering and Oracle implementation. He left to join Starcraft Corporation, another NASDAQ company, as its Chief Financial Officer.

Starcraft Corporation manufactured van conversions and handicap-access shuttle busses. Rich helped the company restructure its debt and increase its line of credit despite its poor operating results and financial condition. He coordinated the disposal of two unprofitable businesses and excess facilities. Rich honed his skills in cash management, asset-based financing and corporate downsizing while at Starcraft. Rich was promoted to President after 15 months with the company.

Rich left Starcraft after two years to start his own consulting business. Rich provided merger and acquisition assistance, conducted an operational review of a public transportation entity at the request of the Board of Directors and provided advice and consultation for a regional magazine start up. While consulting with Sanyo Sales & Supply, a subsidiary of Sanyo Electric Company, Rich accepted an offer to become Vice President of Finance. In this capacity, Rich managed a full SAP implementation, completing the project on time and within budget. He also coordinated the strategic planning effort and represented the subsidiary at various corporate-wide management meetings.

Rich left Sanyo and joined MISCOR Group, Ltd as Chief Financial Officer. MISCOR was a rapidly growing provider of industrial services to a variety of industries. During his four years as CFO, Rich engineered three senior debt re-financings, implemented Sarbanes-Oxley and played a key role in five acquisitions. Rich was called on to deploy his skills in cash management and asset-based financing. Rich was instrumental in both private debt and equity offerings and helped take the company public via an S-1 registration filing.

Rich joined Pace American, Inc., the leading manufacturer of cargo trailers, as Vice President of Finance. The company was out of compliance with its debt covenants and was experiencing a significant decline in sales. Rich helped stabilize the business and drive down its breakeven point, established credibility with its lending institution, implemented sound cash management procedures, and played a key role in the restructuring of the company.

Rich brings a unique business perspective having served as CFO and President. His broad business experience, financial and executive management skills qualifies him to be a key advisor to any CEO and organization.

Rich holds a BBA in Finance & Business Economics and an Executive MBA from the University of Notre Dame. In addition, Rich earned his CPA certificate from the State of Indiana in 1977. Rich is an adjunct faculty member at Indiana University - South Bend, where he teaches accounting to both undergraduate and graduate students. Rich and his wife, Pam, have two grown children, Patrick and Sarah. In his spare time Rich enjoys biking, gardening, reading, theatre and jogging.
