Stu's 20+ years experience as a Vice President of Finance, COO, IT Manager, consultant and entrepreneur gives him an edge on knowing what questions to ask and how to provide the best solution for the small to mid market closely held business. As a trusted CFO advisor, Stu helps owners to focus their energies and talents on the areas that are most productive, developing their business. He is skilled in working closely with business owners and assisting them in translating their entrepreneurial vision into practical operational systems and procedures, as well as, providing accurate and timely financial reports on which to base their decisions.

Developing the skills required for the analytical needs of a business and yet still maintaining a passion for the creative piece gives Stu a unique advantage. He has trained and mentored all levels of staff with a high level of character and integrity. He is extremely customer driven and believes that challenging one's business team to stretch through proper training, coaching and incentives creates an environment primed for success. Stu thrives on immersing himself in new challenges and perceiving new ways to improve productivity. He is skilled at interacting with vendors, bankers, attorneys and consultants and has established numerous professional relationships during his many years in the local business community.

As VP Finance for a commercial and industrial building materials distributor, he developed effective systems to reduce inventory losses, improve inventory turns, increase Point of Sale efficiency, decrease the AR collection period, reduce bad debts and improve purchasing systems. He streamlined operational procedures establishing employee incentive programs that reduced inventory losses to less than .5%. Stu prepared annual budgets, cash flow reports and detailed monthly financial statements and implemented a full featured employee benefit plan.

Experienced in the non-profit sector serving as the Information Technology Manager for the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra, he benchmarked their IT systems and replaced a poorly designed undocumented custom system with a complete enterprise solution including full support for ticketing, renewals, accounting, fundraising departments and a Mac network for creative design projects, on time and within budget. He has owned and operated a consulting business focused on assisting startup businesses in building the infrastructure required to support future growth by creating effective IT, HR, operational and accounting structures and assisting with the establishment of strategic marketing plans using both traditional and web-based media.

Recently, Stu assisted a high end residential remodeling contractor build a marketing plan including product branding, website development and a Comcast commercial for a national franchising opportunity. In his role as COO, he worked with the CEO of a startup to create the infrastructure of IT, HR and accounting to support five corporations linked to a parent company established to receive revenues from various markets through internet and telemarketing call center sales.

Stu attended Loyola College of Maryland on a Presidential Scholarship graduating with a Bachelors of Business Administration, continued his education in accounting at Towson State University and is a Certified Quickbooks Pro Advisor. As a partner in a branch of Tae Kwon Do studios, he earned his 2nd degree Black Belt. Stu is also a graduate of Dallas Theological Seminary. He resides in Ellicott City, Maryland with his wife of 25 years, Linda, and three children. He is active in his community and church serving on the men's ministry leadership team and serving on the local Habitat for Humanity's Board of Directors. He is currently functioning as Habitat's Board Chair. Stu enjoys the outdoors and has been fortunate to share numerous missions' trips to Central America with both of his daughters.
