Personally, Guillermo is an advocate for those who need social, legal or financial assistance. He has been appointed to many boards, commissions, and committees throughout his career. In May 2020, he was appointed to serve a second two-year term on the Audit and Finance Committee of the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria with headquarters in Geneva, Switzerland. He was previously Chairmanof the Board of Express Microfinanzas SAS, a Bogota, Colombia based Microfinance Institution which provides small business micro loan products. In addition, he previously served as Board Treasurer of Ayuda Inc., a Washington DC based not for profit that provides legal and social services to the immigrant communities. Previous board/commission appointments included the Horizon Foundation in Howard County Maryland; Commissioner of the Baltimore City Veteran's Commission; and Member of the Howard County, Maryland Human Rights Commission.
Guillermo holds a Bachelor of Business Administration, Accounting degree from East Texas State University (now Texas A&M University-Commerce) Master of Science Degree in Professional in Accounting from Strayer University.
