John has most recently served as CFO and Executive VP of a print communications and promotional products company. He took the company from multiple year losses on revenue of $12M to sustained profitability and revenue of $28M. John streamlined the company’s purchase order and billing processes, which led to quick and accurate invoicing of jobs to clients. He created internal control reports to monitor and control work in process orders, and he improved the collections process. John created sales projection reports and improved the company’s financial reporting. With these improvements, John was able to work with the company’s bank to increase a line of credit limit by six times the original amount. John also developed product pricing structures, and negotiated strong deals with clients and vendors.
John served as CFO of a full-service payroll business and was promoted to president to run one of its business units, which processed $90M in annual client payroll. He took the business unit from marginal to healthy profitably, as he increased gross margin by 17% and reduced operating costs by 20%. John created effective internal controls and reconciliation reports which effectively controlled the flow of money throughout the business. John also improved both the timing and quality of financial reporting for the business.
Early in his career, and as a nod to his unique experience, John served as a Senior Fraud Examiner at the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA) where he worked on cases involved in and ranging from penny stocks to bond yield burning.
John is a Certified Public Accountant, and earned his license in 2002. He earned a Business Administration degree from The Citadel, and a master’s degree in commerce crime from George Washington University.
John grew up in South Florida, and recently relocated to his home state. He maintains an active lifestyle that includes weight training, running, and body surfing. John has been active in his community; as he coached youth field hockey for eight years, which, he says, earned him a PhD. in composure. John is quite skilled in the kitchen, he has had to perfect many vegetarian dishes for his daughters.
