Mark has held a number of senior management positions including controller, director of finance, and vice president of finance and has managed the functional areas of accounting, finance, operations, human resources, and IT. He has managed and mentored staffs of all sizes.
Mark's focus on the operational side of the business is driven by his belief that the financial statements should provide actionable information to the business owner. This can take the form of dashboards, key metrics, scorecards or other reporting tools that provide information that can be used to make informed decisions about the business. Mark has had extensive experience in developing and implementing these key metrics or measurements and believes that, when properly used, they lead to improved cash flow and profitability.
Mark has a diverse background having worked in small family businesses, privately held businesses and large public companies. This has afforded him the opportunity to be involved in all aspects of a business. He also has experience with turnaround situations and bankruptcies and has gained valuable experience in successfully navigating the challenges faced by many business leaders.
Mark has a Bachelor of Science in Business with an emphasis in accounting. He became a CPA in Kentucky and is a member of the AICPA, The Financial Executives Networking Group (FENG) and The Detroit Economic Club. Mark resides in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan with his wife Barb, daughter Katie and son Patrick. He is active in his church and the community and has served as treasurer for various non-profit organizations. He enjoys spending time with family, Tiger baseball, reading, golf, hiking and cycling.
