$8MM, Metal Finisher: Client had 10 manufacturing or “finishing lines” where they applied various metal coatings to customers products.  After 60 years in business their accountants and CPA firms had not been able to help them to easily and properly assign costs to lines, and to understand true margins by line, and by finish. We developed processes to calculate profitability by finishing line and finish type. The new costing information allowed us to identify opportunities to strategically adjust prices, to increase both sales and margins, driving increased profitability and the value of the company. We trained the bookkeeper to maintain the new reporting system.

Large Marine Client: Developed a robust financial model to analyze and improve the companies financial performance for it’s six lines of business. Detailed gross margin analyses, expense analyses, and contribution margin statements were created for each division and are used in a formalized monthly financial review. Problem areas are immediately identified and worked on. All six divisions have improved annually and each are recognizing record profits. The monthly close was shortened by 6+ days.  Working with and mentoring the Controller improved accounting processes and overall financial operations.

$20MM+ Manufacturer: We brought accounting in-house from the outside CPA in two months. We developed and implemented new costing practices which are used to identify and improve low margin products. Pricing models and strategies were developed for improving profitability and sales of large engineered to order projects. Substantial profitability and growth were achieved. The owners son was mentored into a true CFO.

100+ Employee Software Company: Automated revenue recognition and forecasting programs were developed for both enterprise level and small-scale software offerings.  Implemented a robust budgeting process and streamlined many other accounting processes while at the same time, replacing a CFO and a Director of Accounting with an Accounting Manager. The firm was subsequently sold for a high valuation.

Fast Growing Pharma Client: Revised financial reporting so management understands financial metrics of the business and where to focus improvement efforts. Designed and built a unique, comprehensive costing model for this capital intensive business, for pricing and quoting projects to ensure profitability, identify good and bad projects and drive increased sales. Built a budget and profit plan to identify and help reach financial goals.

$36MM Manufacturer/Distributor: I helped save the company over $2 million in the first two days on site by analyzing the business and preventing a very big financial mistake. Created a complex financial model to analyze and save a major line of business. Analyzed operations and provided the CEO and CFO with a roadmap to stop $150K+ in monthly losses. Returned years later to put the accounting department back in place, hire a new CFO and re-develop multiple processes when the CFO, Controller and Accounting Manager all left within a month of each other.

Non-Profit Operator of 3 Medical and 3 Dental Clinics: Developed a financial model with metrics to analyze operations and improve profitability. Led the effort to find a new accounting and project management solution to manage a large new program. Provide on-going financial counsel to the Executive Director and accountant.

Financial Services Company: Completed a customer/pricing analysis with recommendations, leading to new pricing strategies and increased sales. Reports are being used by the franchisor and franchisees in order to help them increase profitability and cash flow.

Commercial Contractor: Created a financial model to analyze operations and automatically calculate overhead rates for improved pricing decisions. Built a model to improve the quoting process which gave management a better understanding of the financial and cost impact of jobs bid.
